Development Unit functions as:-
- Plan, implement and supervise the development of forest areas and forest resources.
- Manage information regarding diversitiy of habitats, biological wealth, forest area statistic and forest resources.
- Manage forest fire problem in Permanent Reserved Forest.
- Identify and develop new products based on forest resources.
- Manage forestry information system and Geography Information System (GIS).
- Carrying out forest content's cencus, tree management, ecology spot observation and other production/observation related jobs.
- Check and maintain the border of Permanent Reserved forest along with records of forest areas.
- Prepare seedling for replanting, conservation of environment and landscape.
- Preparing technical plans and contract documents.
- Implement and observe infrastructure contracts work and other related works.
- Maintain department's infrastructure.
- Manage Perlis Herbs Garden.
